Tattoo care after initial healing?

Tattoo care after initial healing?

I just got a tattoo yesterday. I'm aware of all the care I need to put on it for the first 2-3 weeks until it's done peeling, scabs are gone, etc.

But after that period of time, say 3 weeks to a month, and beyond.
Do you still have to care for it like you do when you first get it?
Such as ointment or lotion every day? And can you shower normally without letting water not hit it directly? etc.

Thanks.

Once it is healed you can return to all your normal activities with out any problems.
You should still but lotion on everyday and when you are going to be exposing your tattoo to the sun you should use sun screen.
Dry skin and sun light, tanning, burns etc. will cause your tattoo to fade faster. So taking these steps such as lotion everyday especially in winter when dry skin is more common and sunscreen will really help maintain your tattoo colors.

After it's completely healed you can shower normally and submerge in any body of water like normal. If you want it to keep looking good you should put lotion on it every day and any time you'll be out in the sun you should put a high SPF sunblock on it - even if it will only be for a few minutes.

You should still be putting on moisturizing lotions and ointments…but just not as religiously as opposed to when you first got it :) cuz the better care you take of it when its still new (aka..less the a year)..it really helps the colour last longer and looking fresh/new when ur older!

and you can totally shower normally..just dont take hardcore steam baths…lol
